Everything under control with pneumatics

Lösung mit drei Linearachsen
Solution with three linear axes

When sensitive products need to be handled, assembled or joined with positional accuracy, the use of the ezzFLOW from Best Handling Technology is recommended. This intuitive handling system adapts perfectly to the user and his activity.

Applications of the ezzFLOW are in the area of joining and assembling components, such as in the assembly of machines, apparatus and vehicles, component and subassembly assembly, the loading of machine tools, as well as in the assembly assistance for engines, gears and clutches and in tool changing.

In addition, in many other, mostly precise handling tasks.

ezzFLOW as an automation solution

In addition to its widespread use as an aid for manual handling, the ezzFLOWpneumatic as a drive unit is also the core of automation solutions from Best Handling Technology.

The following is a brief overview of the technical data of the compressed air-driven ezzFLOWpneumatic:

Energy: compressed air

Speed: up to 120 m/min

Energy consumption: 15 Nl/stroke

Load range: up to 350 kg

Load detection: repetitive load

ATEX version: available

Tool change: quick coupling

Drive of the ezzFLOWpneumatic

The pneumatic cylinder converts its longitudinal movement into a rotary movement via a ball screw. This is used to move a rope. This cable is guided over the linear axis and moves the carriage of the linear axis.

The product holder is located on the carriage of the linear axis and also carries out any necessary rotational movements.

The ezzFLOWpneumatic is a robust and fast solution for many handling tasks. It is very fast due to the pneumatic control and is particularly well suited for repetitive operations typical of automatic processes.

All variants of the ezzFLOW are equipped with optimized load handling devices (LAM) according to customer requirements in each case for the task at hand. To ensure that the relevant components are picked up safely, quickly and with repeatable accuracy, the right LAM is of crucial importance. These LAMs are adapted to the product, designed and manufactured.

Part of the ezzFLOWpneumatic is a carrier system that holds all the moving parts of the automation solution and at the same time registers the position of the components on the source and target load carriers.

The carrier system is always adapted to the positions of the load pick-up and the load deposit as well as the desired travel. Best Handling Technology supplies and installs the complete balancer-based handling system, consisting of the balancer, the LAM and the matching ezzLINK carrier system.

The ezzFLOWpneumatic in application

The application example shown above is a solution that can be used both as partial automation and fully automatic. The solution includes three linear axes, of which one, two or all three axes can be pneumatically driven.

A component is to be picked up, removed from the load carrier, moved vertically and placed on a second load carrier. Here, the vertical axis on which the load pickup is guided is pneumatically supported. When the component is picked up, the weight of the component is automatically compensated. This means that the component remains suspended when it is removed from its load carrier. One of the horizontal axes is pneumatically blocked against shifting. Then the vertical movement is manual or pneumatically driven. When the component is deposited, the pneumatic counterbalance is switched off.

The automation or partial automation system with pneumatically driven linear axes is an alternative to 6-axis robot solutions. It is characterized by simplicity and robustness. The system weight of a linear axis solution for handling 40 kg is in the range of 200 kg, depending on the design; a corresponding robot solution weighs one ton.
