Jib cranes are an economical solution for a wide range of handling tasks. Whether in incoming or outgoing goods, in production, assembly or testing: jib cranes offer the possibility of ergonomic transport of goods.
Often, slewing jib cranes are wrongly regarded as a compromise solution compared to gantries. But they are particularly suited–in contrast to gantry cranes–to performing tasks in a spatially limited workplace.
The flexibility of a slewing jib crane can be illustrated very well by the example of the following application. The column-mounted slewing jib crane is to be used at various locations to handle bags. The special challenge is: the different workplaces are not only located in different rooms, but also on different floors.
A mobile base plate enables forklifts to move the handling system including a slewing jib crane
Therefore, it is built on a mobile base plate ezzLINKmobil, which can be moved with a pallet truck or a forklift. The crane is fully equipped with a handling system, power supply with CEE plug 400V 16A, ready for operation at any desired location. The column is adjustable in height, for passing through doors and passing under pipelines and cable trays. It also has a split boom for transport in the freight elevator.
Facts at a glance: data of common jib cranes
Load capacity: up to 1000 kilo
Boom length: 8 m
Slewing range: 270° (special version up to 360°)
Slewing: manual
Both in the standard version as a wall and column-mounted slewing jib crane, with their own column or mounted on an existing column in the building, slewing jib cranes are the optimal solution for defined workplaces and can be integrated flexibly. With reach distances from the column of up to 8 m, which creates a working area of up to 16 m, even large working areas can be covered.
In a confined work environment or with forklift traffic, columns are not desirable. Therefore, jib cranes can also be suspended from the ceiling.
The movement of slewing jib cranes always consists of two components: Slewing the jib requires a higher operating force than moving the trolley along the jib. To facilitate operation, especially slewing, aluminum jibs are preferred. The accelerated mass during slewing compared to steel booms is approx.
50 %.
Depending on the goods to be moved, there are different types of hoists: chain hoists, wire rope hoists, rope balancers or vacuum lifters. Accordingly, a wide variety of goods can be moved, such as bags, cartons, crates, buckets and much more. Due to its flexibility, the slewing crane is an efficient and ergonomic helper. Thus, Best Handling Technology offers a complete system with lifting aid and jib crane.
